At TENA, we’ve been caring for individuals living with incontinence for over 60 years. Our extensive experience in this area has taught us that skin health is an essential part of effective continence care. Dryness is key to skin health

As we get older, our skin becomes thinner, more fragile and more at risk from infection. Wet skin is weaker than dry skin, so prolonged contact with urine can lead to incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) which is painful and costly to treat. Over-hydration of the skin also makes it easier for irritants in urine and faeces to soak through, while excess moisture on the skin’s surface can become a breeding ground for bacteria, sores and infection.
