TENA ProSkin – our skin health range developed and trusted by experts

At TENA, we’ve been caring for individuals living with incontinence for over 60 years. Our extensive experience in this area has taught us that skin health is an essential part of effective continence care. So, we created TENA ProSkin – our unique range of absorbent and skin health products that combine to manage incontinence and maintain skin health.

Designed to be used as part of a person-centred continence care routine, the TENA ProSkin Range has been developed and verified together with skin health experts at the University of Southampton and University College London. It has also been endorsed by the Skin Health Alliance.

Dryness is key to skin health

As we get older, our skin becomes thinner, more fragile and more at risk from infection. Wet skin is weaker than dry skin, so prolonged contact with urine can lead to incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) which is painful and costly to treat. Over-hydration of the skin also makes it easier for irritants in urine and faeces to soak through, while excess moisture on the skin’s surface can become a breeding ground for bacteria, sores and infection.

Three steps to better skin health

To ensure skin stays dry, clean and protected against skin conditions such as IAD, we created the TENA ProSkin 3-step skin health solution. Our absorbent products keep skin dry by quickly and effectively absorbing liquid and reducing moisture. Our cleansing products ensure elderly skin is gently cleansed, while our barrier cream provides the skin with an extra protective layer.

All TENA ProSkin products are tested to ensure they provide the necessary levels of hygiene and protection. One of these tests is the TENA skin moisture test – a unique method that measures the interaction between product and skin, which has been endorsed by skin health experts at the University of Southampton.
